Wilfy Nite Enthrals the audience in Mumbai

Mumbai, 26 October 2011: Wilfy Nite - A Tribute to Wilfy Rebimbus was held today morning 10am at Baidas Hall, Vile Parle West, Mumbai. The Legacy Continues... Tachya Mettamni... were the words printed at the backdrop touched the hearts of the Konkani music lovers. Wilfy’s wife, children and his troupe enthralled the crowd with the beautiful presentation of his songs along with the newly composed ones by Veena and Vishwas.

 

The programme started with the song "Porot Ek Pavttim" by Veena Rebimbus Pais, Vishwas Rebimbus and his troupe. Then Veena and Vishwas came with the Wilfy’s good old song "Ami Mog Kelo Sangitacho". ’Konkan Maina’ Meena Rebimbus presented the song "Tum Maka Hanv Tuka" Composed by Veena Pais. "Fulabai" song was sung by Vishwas Rebimbus, Claud DSouza, Babita Pinto and Charleen Rebimbus. Ivan Sequeira and Veena Pais presented the song "Chan’nyachya Ratim". "Mhoje Kaliz Bul’lam, Hanv Mogar Podlyam" song presented by Munita Veigas. Ivan Sequeira, Prem Lobo and Claude DSouza presented the song "Lungi". "Matembor Pangor Dorina" song presented by Vishwas and Babita. "Marina" song presented by Ivan Sequeira. "Suknne" song presented by Vishwas. Prem, Claude and the group presented a song remembering Konkani stalwarts who contributed immensely to Konkani music, art, theatre, literatre and went to the heavenly abode in 2010. Claude presented a song "Juvanna". Babita pinto presented the song "Mhoje Kaliz Mogar Podlam". Veena, Ivan and Vishwas presented the song "Nach moga Nach". Prem, Claud, Babita and Munita presented the song "Johny Johny". Prem and Babita presented the song "Kuttmachem Nanv Sangonaka". Vishwas, Munita and group presented the song "Kirgi Bazu". Finally Wilfy, Meena and group presented the song "Konknni Amchi Bhas"

 

Dance was presented by Stanzy Alfred, Chris Misquith, Felita Fonseca and Renita Lobo. Shabaridas played Tabla, Pitambar playd Rythem Pad, Merwyn Pinto played Bass Guitar, Joswin Pinto played lead guitar, Teo Alvares played Trumphet, Pappan plaed the Keyboard. Sounds and lights were managed by Christi of Chris Electronics Mangalore.

 

 

Dolla and Lesli rego presented hilarious jokes. The programme beautifully anchored by Leslie Rego.

 

The show started at 10.15am and ended at 2pm. Large crowd witnessed the show.

 

The programme was organised by St. Peter’s Association (Barkur) Mumbai (Regd). The General Secretary of the Association Ivan Rebello welcomed the audience during the stage programme. President Peter Furtado, Vice Presidents Norbert Menezes and Vincent Fonseca escorted the guests to the dais. Mrs Ida Roche introduced the chief guest Ronnie Goveas. Former president of the Association Felix Barnes introduced the guest of honour William Sequeira. Eric Carvalho introduced the MLA Krishna Hegde and the corporator Clive Dias. MLA Krishna Hegde said that "If Shakespeare is for English Wilfy Rebimbus is for Konkani."

 

There were about two dozens guests on the dais. Some of them are Harry Rebello, benny Lewis, Marceline Carvalho, Steven Picardo, Anthony Menezes, Joseph Francis, Martin Furtado, Alwyn Rasquinha, Harry Buthello, Gabriel, Philip D’Souza, William Sequeira, Joseph Menezes, Meena Rebimbus and the programme organiser Henry D’Silva. Ivan Suaris proposed vote of thanks.
