Hassan: ‘Konkani Rakann Sanchalan’ Sakleshpur holds Gramalok Literary Presentation

Sakleshpur: 30-June-2025;  Sahitya Akademi New Delhi in association with Konkani Rakhan Sanchalan Saklesphur held Gramalok, a literary presentation on 29th June 2025 at the  ’Menezes Villa’, Ragavendra Nagara, (Belegadde), Sakleshpur, Hassan at 4.00pm.

 

Pradeep D’Souza, President, Konkani Rakann Sanchalan, Sakleshpur Unit accorded a warm welcome to the literary participants namely G.W. Carlo (Essay), Ronald Monis (Essay), Alphonse Mendonsa(Short Story) and Shanti D’Souza (Folk Songs).

 

Melvyn Rodrigues, Convener, Konkani Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi made introductory remarks explaining briefly the origin of the Sahitya Akademi in New Delhi in 1950 and the inclusion of various languages including Konkani.

 

Henry Mendonca(HM Pernal), Member of Konkani Advisory Board, Sahitya AKademi, New Delhi conducted the literary presentation starting with Alphonse Mendonsa who recited a beautiful short story titled “Kanik” followed by G.W. Carlo (a humorous essay on baths and types of baths in Malenadu) and Ronald Monis presented an essay on Swimming Lessons which was also humorous and both the essays were thoroughly enjoyed by the audience and hearty laugh.

After a short tea-break the traditional folk songs (vovyo) were sung melodiously by Shanti D’Souza and team and entertained the audience.

 

Vote of thanks was proposed by Rakesh Menezes (Member, Konkan Rakann Sachalan) and the entire literary event was beautifully compered by Vincent Pais also a member of Konkan Rakann Sachalan.

 

A few members presented their opinions on the event positively and said these types of events enrich their Konkani language and also it helps their children to learn and converse in Konkani more effectively.

 

A large number of people attended the literary event and made it very successful.  The attendees were served with a sumptuous dinner at the end of the program.
