Udupi, 13 July 2011: The ones I trusted that they are my close persons have only cheated me. Being in the army I fought 2 wars for my country, but I am not getting justice from the Police.... these are the painful words of Retired Soldier Francis D’Almeida a resident of Nakre, Karkala Taluk. He grieves that 2 years passed since his son is murdered, but so far the accused are not punished. This is not just the question of my son, there are many similar cases, he says. He is fighting even at his old age of 80 because the murderers should not escape unpunished.

Alwyn D’Almeida

In the press conference held in Udupi on Tuesday he said that, his son Alwyn D’Almeida who died in Nakre, Karkala Taluk on 29th September 2009, was actually murdered and he urged to the Police to catch the accused and punish them. In the press conference his daughter-in-law Jesintha D’Almeida said that her husband’s friends said that he died by drowning in the lake.  I have doubt about it, but the Police have made the investigations 2 times and closed the case saying that it was unnatural death by drowning in the lake.

So we gave complaint to the High Court and the Court gave instructions to re conduct the post-mortem of the body. Accordingly the body which was buried has been removed and post-mortem was conducted. With the post-mortem it was found that there are blood particles on the neck and this has confirmed that it was a murder, said Jesintha D’Almeida in the press conference. Now the court has ordered to conduct the investigation again and at least now the Police should investigate the matter without buckling to any pressure, she has urged.

Jesintha has accused that her husband has been killed by Prakash Martis, Wilma Martis, Benjamin D’Souza, Vinod Menezes, Naveen Lobo and Rudolph D’Souza in a financial dispute in the Shamiyana business, by taking him to the lake for bathing and then drowning him in the water. Retired Soldier’s Association President Gilbert Braganza was also present in the press conference.
