School tour vehicle accident, four dead including three students

Ankola, 20 January 2011: In an accident near Hebbula of Ankola taluk between a Cruiser and a Lorry on Wednesday, four people died and among them are three students. Other 12 people are seriously injured and are taken to KMC hospital, Hubli. The students of Govt. High School of Kamalapura grama of Alanda taluk, Gulbarga were going in Cruiser on a school tour to Gokarna and the Cruiser collided with the lorry which was coming from opposite side.
Cruiser driver Ambarayya Chandrakatha Kumbara (26) of Kamala Nagar and student Shivashantha Kalyani Kattimani (15) died on the spot. Seriously injured students Ambarayya Bhimashankara (16) and Shambhulinga Gurushanthappa Biradara (14) died on the way to the hospital.
Teacher Kallappa Hanumanthappa and students Santhosh Shivaputhrappa, Indrajith Shivaram, Revana Siddappa, Sharana Basappa,Akasha Ravindra, Veeranna Nagamurthy, Nagayya Siddaramayya, Ranjith Kumar, Santhoshkumar Chandrakanth, Ramesh Nanu, Sunilkumar Chandrakantha, Channaveera Nagappa, Shambhulinga Siddaramappa are injured and are taken to KMC hospital Hubli.
Total 104 students and 7 teachers were travelling in two Cruizers and one bus on a school tour to Gokarna and one of the Cruizer met with the accident with the lorry near Hebbula. With the impact of the accident the students were scattered and thrown all over the road.
To the accident spot special Police Senior Officer V. B. Gavankar, Area Education Officer N. G. Nayak, Thashildar Dr. Udayakumar Shetty, C.P.I. Shivananda Chalavadi visited and helped in taking the injured to the hospital. Lorry driver Kanakappa Basavaraj Sajja of Mudola, Koppala district has been arrested by police and investigation is undertaken.
