Malpe: The true meaning of Christmas is to share joy with each other, said Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa, the parish priest of St. Anne’s Church Thottam and PRO of the Udupi Diocese. He was speaking at a Christmas celebration program organized by the Samanvaya Sarvadharma Samiti Thottam at the Malpe CSI Church on Friday, 20 December 2024.

 

Speaking furthet, Rev. Fr. Denis said that during the Christmas festival, if we share greetings and sweets with each other, the celebration of the festival will be meaningful only when everyone imitates it in their lives along with living a life of mutual coexistence. When Lord Jesus is born in the hearts of our neighbors, the festival will be given true meaning. The message that every religion gives to its followers is to do good to your neighbor. We should develop a mindset of loving and respecting every religion. Through this, we should join hands to build a harmonious society.

 

Ramesh Thingalaya, President of the Samanvaya Sarvadharma Samiti Thottam, said that there are similarities in the practices of all religions and that when everyone prays based on their religious beliefs, they pray to do good to everyone. There is no doubt that a harmonious society will be created when we act with respect for our neighbors.

During the event, Shruti, daughter of Krishnappa and Yashoda of Malpe Nergia, who is suffering from kidney problems, performed an exemplary act during the Christmas celebrations by handing over Rs. 25,000 in financial assistance from the Samanvaya Sarvadharma Samiti Thottam.

 

After the assembly program, various Christmas-related entertainment programs were held by various CSI, UBM Church Malpe, and Thottam St. Anne’s Church.

 

Present on the stage were Pastor Kumar Sallins, the pastor of the UBM Church Malpe, committee office bearers Vanitha Fernandes, Shabir, Seeraz, Thottam Sant Annam Church’s board of trustees, and Sunil Fernandes, vice-chairman of the church’s board of trustees.

 

Pastor Edwin Joseph, pastor of CSI Church Malpe, welcomed the gathering and Godwin expressed his gratitude. Gloria compered the program.
