Silver Jubilee celebrated by Kapikad’s ‘Cha Parka’ team

Mangalore, 10 October 2010: The ‘Cha Parka Kalavider Kudla’ troupe led by popular Tulu stage artist Devadas Kapikad on Saturday, October 9, celebrated their 25 years of successful theatre journey through a jubilant cultural programme at Town Hall here. The programme was organised by Rangachavadi Mangaluru, a city based literary and cultural organisation and sponsored by Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy and the Department of Kannada and Culture.
Inaugurating the programme, Dr Mohan Alva, Chairman, Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri said that Devadas Kapikkad played a major role in promoting and spreading Tulu culture in India and abroad, especially Arabian Gulf countries. Alva also released a souvenir - ‘Bolli’, which deals with the achievements of Cha Parka troupe.
On the same occasion Devadas Kapikad and his wife Sharmila Kapikad were given a warm felicitation by Mohan Alva and Rajani Dugganna, Mayor of Mangalore City Corporation respectively. Ganesh Rao, Chairman, Karavali Group of Institutions presided over the programme.
Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Bunts’ leader Ajith Kumar Malady, Film producer Dr P Sanjeeva Dandakeri, Journalist Prakash Pandeshwar, Director and Actor Shivadhwaj, Devanada Shetty, Kadri Navaneeth Shetty, VG Paul and many others were present.
