Bantwal: Minister U T Khader inaugurates Dialysis Unit at Father Muller Hospital, Thumbay

Bantwal, 14 May 2014: Father Muller Hospital, Thumbay, near here 100 bed-multi-specialty hospital established to serve the people of rural area has completed its first year of dedicated service in the healthcare sector. Enriched with experience and dedication it will continue to serve the community in the coming years.
In order to mark this occasion Father Muller Hospital, Thumbay in association with Father Muller Medical College Hospital, Lions and Lioness Club, Bantwal organized a mega health camp at the premises of Father Muller Hospital, Thumbay here on Wednesday May 14.
The state health and family welfare minister U T Khader was the chief guest of the occasion.
ZP member Mamata S Gatti, Thumbay gram panchayat president Mohammad Valavoor was the guests of honour.
Mangalore diocesan vicar general Monsignor Denis Moras Prabhu presided the programe.
Father Muller Charitable Institutions director Fr Patrick Rodrigues,Father Muller Hospital – Thumbai administrator Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa, Dather Muller Medical College Hospital administrator Fr Richard Coelho, Lions Club Bantwal president S G Acharya, Father Muller Hospital – Thumbay medical superintendent Dr Kiran Shetty were present on the dais.
The minister U T Khader inaugurated the new dialysis unit on the same occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, minister U T Khader said that having good health is very important, each person must know the causes, effects and remedy related to their individuals’ health issue. These free health camps conducted in rural areas will benefit many people who cannot reach the hospitals. He applauded the work done by Father Muller Hospital in the service of humanity. He suggested, in order providing better facility to the rural people dialysis uUnit should be established in villages as large number of people are suffering from kidney diseases.
The minister Khader further said, ‘There should be co-coordinators from each hospital to guide the patients to their respective hospitals for better treatment,’ said Khader. He also spoke about the few initiatives taken by the government in this regard. He said soon free treatment will be offered in the government hospitals for the needy patients.
Monsignor Denis Moras Prabhu, expressed his happiness over the work done by Father Muller Charitable Institution in healthcare sector. He also assured that the institution will continue to render its service to the humanity in the years to come.
A special team of doctors conducted free checkups and provided consultations in general medicine, pediatrics, ophthalmology, dermatology, ENT, surgery, gynecology, orthopedics, nephrology, cardiology, psychiatry and homeopathy.
In addition to this, free ECG, HB/TC/DC, RBS, blood urea, serum creatinine, urine routine, immunization for children, diabetes, blood ressure, heart disease checkup and cancer screening were offered. Fifty percent discount on Health card and diagnostic tests like x-ray, ultra sound, CT scanning, ECG including surgery (except implant) was provided.
Free medicines were also distributed to the patients. Over 500 patients benefitted in this camp.
