Mangalore:Cultural and Literary Competitions highlight Valedictory Program on Intl. Nurses day

Mangalore, 14 May 2014: On the auspicious occasion of International Nurses Day celebrated all over the globe Father Muller School and College of Nursing organized various colourful cultural and literary competitions.
The three days event began with the Inaugural function on 8th May. Cultural and literary competitions were held on 9th and concluded with Valedictory Program on 10th May 2014. The memorable event was held at the Academy Hall.
On 9th May various cultural and literary competitions were held at different venues spread over the Father Muller campus. Renowned personalities from Mangalore were the judges for the competitions namely: Ms. Matilda Pinto, a well-known compere and trainer in Public speaking, Mr. Jerry Rasquinha, renowned and multitalented Konkani artist and Ms.Rejina Dinesh, an Expert in English Literature. All the competitions were held smoothly and successfully and the following were adjudged as winners.
The Judges shared their experience as judges for the competitions. Mr. Jerry Rasquinha applauded all the participants for their lively participation whilst giving them some handy tips on overall presentation. Ms.Rejina praised the participants saying that “You danced like you are professionals”.
The concluding part of International Nurses Day was observed with the Valedictory program on 10th May 2014.The final event began at 10.15 am at the Academy hall amidst the presence of eminent personalities.
Ms.Reema Rodrigues, III Year G.N.M Student, welcomed the gathering. Prof. RenildaShanthi Lobo, Principal, City College of Nursing was the guest of the ceremony. Rev Fr Richard Coelho, Administrator, Father Muller Medical College Hospital presided over the function. The Ceremonial lighting of the lamp was performed by all the dignitaries on the dais. Prof. Shanthi addressed the students regarding the importance of the goal of Life and persuaded the students to strive for excellence.
The Secretaries of the respective Student Nurses Association of the school and college read the annual reports of the student’s activities during the academic year.
Prior to conclusion a fewgood performances from the Competitions were held which enthralled the audience. Vote of Thanks rendered by Ms. Henita , Final Year B.Sc Nursing Student. The programme concluded with lunch arranged by the Student Nurses Association of the School & College.
