M’lore: Grand Finale of Int’l Nurses Day held at Father Muller Charitable Institutions

Mangalore, 12 May 2014: Father Muller Medical College Hospital celebrated the International Nurses Day with great solemnity. The grand finale of Nurses Week Celebration - 2014 was held at Father Muller Charitable Institutions here on Monday May 12. The celebration began on Monday May 5 and concluded on Monday May 12.
As a mark of respect and homage, the mayor Mahabala Marla garlanded the portrait of Florence Nightingale and Father Muller Charitable Institutions director Fr Patrick Rodrigues garlanded the portrait of Father Muller as a mark of honor to the founder of the Institutions.
Father Muller Medical Hospital administrator Fr Richard Coelho, Fr Rodrigues and mayor Mahabala distributed the prizes to the winners of various events.
Fr Patrick Rodrigues, in his presidential address appreciated the services of the nurses and exclaimed that nurses remain in the hearts of their patients. He acknowledged that among the members of the healthcare team, a nurse is the strongest force in patient care.
Sr Aurora Joseph, a renowned pillar of nursing during 1970’ and 80s was honored as the Veteran Nurse. She expressed her joy of returning to the Institutions and shared her life experiences through a thought provoking message.
Fr Richard Coelho congratulated the nurses on their selfless services and expressed that nurses are the largest task force in the health care industry.
Sr Aileen welcomed the gathering. The nursing superintendent Darryl Aranha proposed vote of thanks.
