Annual Day Celebrations of St. Mary’s College, Shirva

Shirva, 21 February 2012: The influence of movies and television serials have spoiled part of our culture. With only the education one cannot develop personality, even after one leaves the college the talents needs to be developed and our activities should be limited within the cultural frame. To come up in any field, love, patience and dedication in that field is required. Cultural richness has actually saved the Indian identity, said Karnataka Konkani Saahitya Academy President Kasaragod Chinna.
He was speaking upon distributing the scholarship and prizes to the students, during the St. Mary’s College Annual Day celebrations on Friday. Speaking further he said that, only scoring the marks is not talent, but instead you need to come forward and blossom in various fields, he called upon the students. Through the Academy, the stage training will be arranged to the interested students, he said.
Parish Priest of the Church Rev. Fr. Stanly Tauro in his presidential address said that all the facilities for providing the education to the multi talents are available in the college and these facilities should be utilized, he said. Principal Dr. J.C. Miranda briefed on the annual achievements. College Student Leader Prashanth Edward Noronha welcomed the guests and the gathering.
Prof. Subrahmanya introduced the chief guests. Secretary Harshit welcomed the guests with flower bouquet. Vincent D’Souza, Venugopal Nonda, Prof. Laxmi introduced the winners in the competition. Joint Secretary Sumana Devadiga proposed vote of thanks. Mitesh Fernandes and Francis Minezes compeered the program. Students conducted cultural programs.
