Shirva: Debate in St. Mary’s College on roguery on women

Shirva, 28 September 2011: Debate on the issues of roguery on women was held at Shirva St. Mary’s College. The intention of this debate program was to bring awareness among the students on the roguery on women taking place in the country. Prof. Shoba D’Souza of St. Mary’s Post Graduation Department briefed on the historical form of the roguery on women, the women’s physical situation, the lack of knowledge at that time and the economical background.
Prof. Jesintha Fernandes spoke and said that, as the development taken place in the field of Science and Technology, the modernization has created the important changes in the lives of women. Speaking on the subject Freeda D’Souza briefed on the western culture and globalization, that has created the confusion in our society. Yashoda briefed on the background of the roguery on women of the urban and rural areas and its forms. Prof. Vincent D’Souza explained on the works to resolve the roguery on women and the role of men in it.
Convener of the debate N. Bhavanishankar said that, in order to strengthen the women’s position their education and awareness are very important. Every woman must question herself on her issues. Along with this it is important for women to get together and fight their issues, but also need to consider that the roguery on women is a black mark on the society and everyone has the responsibility to correct it.
