Wroclaw, Poland: The vibrant Kannada Rajyotsava celebration took place in Wroclaw, Poland, on November 3, 2024, at the Bakara Culture and Education Centre. This year’s event was marked by the honorable presence of Nadoja Dr. Mahesh Joshi, President of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat, as the Chief Guest, alongside Dr. Murali Choontaru as a special guest. Their presence added great prestige to the occasion, highlighting the importance of Kannada culture and heritage in Poland.
The highlight of the celebration was the official launch of Poland Kannadigaru, the first registered community dedicated to uniting Kannada-speaking people from all across Poland. This new organization aims to bring together Kannadigas living in different regions of the country, fostering a strong community connection and cultural exchange.
Hosted by the Wroclaw Kannada Sangha under the visionary leadership of Mr. Panchaxari Laxmeshwarmath, who began bringing together Kannada speakers in Wroclaw in 2017, the event was a significant milestone for Kannadigas in Poland. The celebration drew attendees from all corners of Poland and even welcomed guests from Dresden, Germany, further demonstrating the reach and unity of the Kannada diaspora in Europe.
A rich variety of traditional Indian food and snacks was served, adding a taste of home to the celebration. Cultural performances captivated the audience with a showcase of Karnataka’s rich heritage, from dance and music to storytelling. Attendees felt a strong sense of community and joy, creating a “home away from home” atmosphere where Kannadigas could connect, collaborate, and celebrate their shared roots.
This memorable event was a testament to the enduring spirit of Kannada culture and unity, resonating with all in attendance and reinforcing the bond of family and community among Kannadigas living far from Karnataka.
