Udupi: LMH celebrates the achievement of Sarita, a nursing student securing 1st rank in Karnataka

Udupi, 29 Mar 2025: Sarita, a dedicated student of CSI Lombard Memorial School of Nursing (Mission Hospital) has secured the first rank in the state in the General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) exams conducted by the Karnataka State Diploma in Nursing Examination Board (KSDNEB), Bengaluru. This is a historic achievement for the institution, as it marks the first time a student from Lombard School of Nursing has earned a rank in its 42nd batch.

 

 

The GNM exams were conducted in December 2024, with the results for the batch of 2021-2024 being announced in March 2025. Sarita’s success has brought immense pride not only to the institution but also to the entire management.

 

Sarita, who hails from Arbi, Moodubelle is the daughter of Simon ans Eliza Mendonca. She completed her BCom, moved to the Gulf for eight years before returning to her hometown to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. With the unwavering support of her family, including her husband, Eldin D’Souza and two children, daughter Evangeline anf son Earl,  Sarita completed her GNM and emerged as the topper in the state. 

 

Sarita expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the principal and faculty of Lombard School of Nursing for their guidance and support in helping her achieve this remarkable feat. Sarita acknowledged that their encouragement and mentorship were instrumental in her success.

 

Dr Sushil Jathanna, director of Lombard Memorial Hospital, shared his thoughts on Sarita’s success, stating, “The hospital is proud of the achievements of its students. Sarita is a dedicated and committed nurse, and I am confident she will achieve great things in her future career. On behalf of the hospital, I would also like to thank the faculties of the schools and colleges of Nursing who have worked tirelessly for their students. We are indeed proud of the faculties of both the college and school of nursing for producing such outstanding students.”

 

About Sarita Mendonca

Sarita was born as the eldest daughter among two children of Eliza and Simon Mendonca of Moodubeelle. She had her education up to PUC in the parish educational institutions-Church Aided Higher Primary School and St. Lawrence High School and  PU College, Moodubelle. Thereafter Sarita continued her studies for commerce graduation at St. Mary’s College, Shirva and compleed B.Com. in 2010. While in PUC Sarita was a member of the Young Christian Students(YCS) which gave her basic training and a number of opportunities to develop her talents and leadership qualities by attending meetings and camps.

 

During her studies in St. Mary’s College, Shirva, Sarita became a member of the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM). She was one of the youth representatives of Moodubelle at the Udupi Varado level. As Sarita felt that she had the ability to take up greater responsibilities in the organisation, she expressed her willingness to contest for the Varado President’s post and got elected for one year term, the first young lady from Moodubelle to occupy this prestigious position in the youth movement.

 

Sarita is maarries to Eldin D’Souza who works in Qatar. They are blessed with two children, daughter Evangeline and son Earl.
