Mumbai, Mar. 29: "Many works have come out in the last 50 years. They have continued the Indian tradition. Now it is very happy that there is an attempt to leave it and write something new. It is a very happy thing that the Mumbai writers’ group is forming their group abroad and releasing new works. But reading Kannada may be up to our generation, the next generation may read Kannada, all of them are learning in English medium. Reading books has decreased. People are always mobile and fickle. There should be no gender discrimination in literature between men and women", said Narayana Navilekar, a writer and an officer of the Mysore Association and the N. K. E. S. School Board of Directors.
The Kannada Writers’ Association Mumbai ’Srujana’ inaugurated the book launch program organized by the organization here on Saturday evening at the Mysore Association’s small auditorium in Matunga by lighting the lamp. Addressing the literary enthusiasts who released the book ’Gaddalada Gudali Chilipili’ by the Kannada Writers’ Association Mumbai, Navilekar congratulated the creative writers.
The event, chaired by the creative group’s coordinator Padmaja Mannur, featured the editors of the book ’Gaddaladu Gudali Chilipili’, lawyer Amita S. Bhagwat, honorary treasurer Dr. Dakshayani Yadahalli, and the creative honorary secretary Latha Santosh Shetty.
Convener Padmaja Mannur, in her presidential address, said that the fragrance of flowers attracts us. Similarly, I request everyone to read the work ’Gaddala Da Gudali Chilipili’ and give their opinion. It is a sad thing that the reading rooms are closing. However, we should all continue the habit of reading. Women should improve. They should come forward on their own. If someone has a flaw, they should not just show pity but should be inspired.
On this occasion, the editors of the book, Amita Bhagwat and Deepa Shetty (Saroja Amati was absent) were felicitated.
Senior literary figure and creative leader of Brihanmumbai, Dr. Sunitha M. Shetty, Sharada Ambesange, Eshwara Alevooru, Yashoda Shetty and many other members were present at the event. Creative members Harini M. Shetty, Shantha N. Shetty, creative director Padmaja Mannur, Pramoda Mada, Vani Shetty, Gayatri Nagesh and Shobha Shetty performed in solo roles.
The program began with a prayer by Harini Shetty. Padmaja wished for a happy marriage of Mannur. Deepa Shetty and Sarva Mangala Urs introduced the guests and compered the program. Dr. Dakshayani Yadahalli offered the vote of thanks.
