Udupi/M’Belle: Annual Day and Old Students Day celebrated in Church Aided Higher Primary Scho

Udupi, 03 Jan 2017: School Annual Day of Belle Church Aided Higher Primary School as well as Old Students Day was celebrated in the school premises on Monday, 2 January 2017 at 5.30 pm. This included stage function, cultural programme by the students of the school followed by hilarious Kannada play “Mooru Mutthugallu’ (Three Pearls).
The stage programme was presided over by Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Correspondent of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions. Valerian Alva, Chef Trustee of Moodubelle Charitable Trust was the chief guest. Other dignitaries on the dais included Fr. Alphonse D’Lima-Rector of Diocesan Minor Seminary, Alphonse Alva-Vice President of Parish pastoral Council, Mrs. Ranjani Hegde-President of Belle Grama Panchayat, Rajendra Shetty-former President of Old Students Association, Lloyd Rebello-present President, Maxim D’Sa-President of Old Students Association, St. Lawrence Composite PU College, Sudhakar Poojary-Secretary of Old Students Association, Mrs. Sujata Suvarna-member of Udupi Taluk Panchayat, Sr. Irene Viegas-Headmistress of Belle Church Aided Higher Primary School and Robert Martis-President of Parents-Teachers Association.
Following the prayer song by the students, Lloyd Rebello welcomed the guests. Thereafter, Sr. Irene Viegas read the report of the various activities of the school. Mrs. Anita Alva, Treasurer of the Old Students Association presented the report of the Old Students Association.
Valerian Alva gave away prizes to the winners of various games conducted by the Old Students in the morning. These included students from first to seventh standard, parents and teachers. Ms. Royline Rodrigues read the list of the winners.
In his message, Valerian Alva, who is also an old students of the school, complimented the students and teachers for organizing the annual day. He emphasized that students should take advantage of the various facilities provided by the school management to improve their sporting, learning and cultural activities.
Fr. Clement Mascarenhas distributed prizes to the girls volleyball team which had secured third position in the District level volleyball tournament. He also gave away prizes to the champions in the annual sports meet held in the month of November 2016. Physical Instructor of the school Keerti Kumar Shetty read out the names of the recipients of the prizes.
In his presidential address, Fr. Clement Mascarenhas appreciated the work done by the school and the Old Students Association. He made special reference to Sr. Irene Viegas, the headmistress under whose leadership the school has been improving in all fields. Fr. Clement also had a word of praise of Lloyd Rebello and the Old Students Association who have been striving to provide better facilities to the students including a computer lab. He said that Valerian Alva has assured any kind of help to his Alma Mater.
Fr. Clement Mascarenhas honoured the donors who had contributed towards the organization of the annual day and Old Students Day. Lloyd Rebello read the list of the donors.
Narasimha Nayak proposed the vote of thanks and Nevill D’Souza compeered the stage programme.
The stage programme was followed by various cultural programmes presented by the students of the higher primary school. The children were well trained by the teachers and their presentation was greatly appreciated by the audience.
Mukunda Kamath, one of the prominent businessmen and philanthropist from Moodubelle encouraged the students by giving cash prizes to each of the groups soon after their dance performances.
Following the cultural programme by the students, the hilarious Kannada Play “Mooru Mutthugallu” was staged at 8 pm which continued till 10.30 pm.
Earlier, in the morning at 9.30 am, the School and Old Students Day was inaugurated by hoisting the school flag by chief guest Mrs. Ranjani Hegde, President of Belle Grama Panchayat, one of the old students of the Church Aided Higher Primary School, Moodubelle. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Correspondent of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions presided over the inaugural function.
Prizes were distributed to the students who were winners in various competitions by Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Mrs. Ranjani Hegde and Mrs. Sujata Suvarna, member of Udupi Taluk Panchayat.
The inaugural programme was attended by Lloyd Rebello-President of Old Students Association of Higher Primary School, Maxim D’Sa-President of Old Students Association of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School, Naveen Correa-Principal of St. Lawrence PU College, Mrs. Leena D’Silva-Headmistress of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School, Mrs. Veera Fernandes-Headmistress of St. Lawrence English Medium High School, Alphonse Alva-Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council, Vincent Fernandes-newly elected Vice President of Parish pastoral Council, Rajendra Shetty-former President of Belle Grama Panchayat, Mrs. Anita Alva-Treasurer of Higher Primary Old Students Association and other old students.
Sr. Irene Viegas-Headmistress of Church Aided Higher Primary Scholl welcomed the gathering. Ms. Asha read the names of the students who won the prizes, Ms. Cecilia proposed the vote of thanks and Keerthi Kumar Shetty compeered the programme.
