Cooperative sector a great opportunity to develop leadership qualities – Bishop Gerald Lobo

Udupi: When we adopt good values ??in our lives and provide good leadership to the society, people also accept such a leader. In this regard, there is a good opportunity in the cooperative sector to develop leadership qualities by mingling with everyone, said the Archbishop of Udupi Diocese, His Eminence Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo.

 

He was speaking at a function organized by the Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh at the Kakkunje Anugraha Palana Kendra on Sunday to felicitate Christian leaders serving as presidents, vice presidents and directors in the cooperative sector.

 

It is commendable that several leaders of the Christian community are serving as directors in the cooperative sector. Through this, the work of directly reaching the people of the society and responding to their needs is being done by the directors of the cooperative sector. He said that it is necessary to form a Christian Cooperatives Union to demonstrate unity among all the cooperatives of the Christian community and it is necessary to think about this in the coming days.

 

Inaugurating the program, Anil Lobo, Chairman of MCC Bank Mangalore, said that although the cooperative sector seems easy to those who look at it from the outside, performing duties in it is equally difficult. Cooperative institutions do not get the facilities available to nationalized banks, but they get satisfaction if they work towards fulfilling their duties as per the needs of the people and doing a service.

At the event, Legislative Council member Ivan D’Souza gave suggestions on strengthening the Christian community in the Cooperative Department.

 

The newly elected presidents, vice presidents and directors of various cooperative organizations within the Udupi Diocese were felicitated.

 

The program was presided over by Santosh Cornelio, President of the Catholic Sabha Udupi Region.

 

Monsignor Ferdinand Gonsalves, Grand Master of Udupi Diocese and Spiritual Director of Catholic Sabha Udupi Region, Ronald D’Almeida, President of the Elected Central Committee for 2025-26, Mary D’Souza, Immediate Past President were present.

 

The program coordinator, L. Roy Kiran Crasta, welcomed the gathering and delivered the introductory remarks, while General Secretary Olivia J. D’Mello proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. Gerald Pinto compered the program.
