Shirva: Upgraded computer center inaugurated at St. Mary’s Junior College

Shirva, 21 November 2010: St.Mary’s old Students Association, Shirva as part of fulfilling its mission to help develop the Alma Mater to its fullest capacity, has donated five computers to high school section. In addition Mr. Thomas Dsouza of Dubai has provided three computers. Hence the computer laboratory at the high school section was upgraded to fulfill the needs of the students.
Inaugurating the upgraded Computer center Mr. Simon Dsouza, President of the Association stressed the need for a comprehensive computer education strategy at the St.Mary’s Institutions.
Fr. Stany Tauro, the correspondent of the Institution while blessing the computer center mentioned about his vision of every child passing through the portals of the institution becoming computer literate, which will enable them to compete with their counterparts from the urban areas.
Introducing computers to the students at the early level will help nurture the soft skills of the students. With Computer Science as an optional subject at the Pre University level and BCA course at the graduation level St.Mary’s Institutions aim at becoming a model in computer education in the rural area.
