DC specifies parking areas in M’lore City

Mangalore Feb 17 : The number of vehicles on main roads during peak hours are on the rise causing traffic blocks. Keeping this in mind, Mangalore City Corporation has come forward to develop the roads in the city. Majority of the places in the city suffer from parking spaces. Lack of parking spaces in commercial complexes have added to the problem. 


It has been decided to introduce paid parking system in those roads which have been completed in the city. Some of the areas will be made as no parking zones. Depending on the density of the vehicles, some areas will be 45 degree angled parking area and some will be parellel parking area, according to a press release. 

Paid parking

A 45-degree angled four-wheeler parking will be provided from Christian Institute arch to Athree Book Centre. 

The 45-degree angled two-wheeler parking will be provided from Athree Book centre in Balmatta to Prabhath Automobiles. 

Parallel parking will be provided from MJS complex Times Square building to Wine Gate. Similarly, 45-degree angled two-wheeler parking will be provided from left compound of skylane compound in Balmatta road to Don Bosco hall cross, from Don Bosco hall to Liquid Lounge. Besides, 45-degree angled four-wheeler parking will be provided from Liquid lounge to Hotel Soorya. 

Two-wheeler parking will be allowed in front of Khazana jewellery. A 45-degree angled two-wheeler and four-wheeler parking will be allowed on A B Shetty Circle to U B Mallya road, football maidan gate. From Karavali Utsav maidan to Ladyhill, 45 degree angled two-wheeler and four-wheeler parking will be provided. 

No parking

The parking of vehicles on left side of road from Balmatta Circle to Christian Institute arch has been banned. 

It has been proposed to construct a bus stop and it requires lot of space. Parking vehicles on the right side of the road from Ambedkar Circle to Lord Krishna Bank in Milagres has also been banned. The right side of the Manshan building in Milagres to Hampankatta Circle is declared as ‘no parking zone’. Parking of vehicles from Alukkas jewellery in Light House Hill road to main entrance of Tagore Park has also been banned.
