Oath-Taking Ceremony of YCS Held in St Lawrence Church, Moodubelle

Udupi/M’Belle: The oath-taking ceremony was held for the Young Catholic Students (YCS) of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle, on Sunday, 22 June 2025. The oath-taking ceremony took place after the 7:30 AM Mass. The oath of membership and the oath for the newly elected unit council members were administered by Fr. George D’Souza, the Parish Priest and Director of the YCS Moodubelle unit. He was accompanied by Fr. Rikson Monteiro, the Assistant Parish Priest and Assistant Director of the YCS Unit. The YCS members, each holding a burning candle, repeated the oath as administered by Fr. George D’Souza. Twelve new members officially joined the YCS by taking this oath. Fr. George D’Souza thoughtfully prayed for the YCS members, their animators, and parents, recognizing the unique challenges they face, highlighting the importance of community and guidance in their journey.

 

CA Pritish D’Sa- Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council, Mr Charles Quadros – Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council, Mrs Gracy Rebello – Coordinator of commissions, Mr Valerian Noronha – Youth Coordinator, Dr. Judith Noronha, and Ms Nikitha Rebello- Animators of YCS and few parents of YCS members were present during the oath-taking ceremony. 

 

Following the Mass, the YCS members had their third meeting of the year 2025-26, which began with a prayer led by Aralyn Barboza and Reyona Lobo. Members were organized into four cells to engage in a meaningful discussion about the YCS methodology – ‘See, Judge, Act’. They explored the critical theme of ‘Peer Pressure vs Personal principles’, emphasizing the importance of standing firm in one’s beliefs. During this session, they explored the important themes of ’Peer Pressure vs. Personal Principles.’ They looked at how outside influences can affect a person’s beliefs and actions. Each group participated in meaningful discussions, sharing personal experiences and viewpoints to gain a deeper understanding of the tension between societal expectations and individual beliefs.

Rishal Mascarenhas led the session, while Jane Alva conducted the activity. Animators facilitated the session. The meeting concluded with the YCS anthem.
