Mangalore, 24 July 2010: Kannada cinema industry lacks aesthetic sense. Most of the directors are dependent on remake leading to the lack of good movies in the industry which has eventually made the people to stay away from the cinema theaters, opined veteran movie director M S Sathyu.
He was speaking after the inauguration of his recent venture ‘Ijjodu’ at New Chitra theatre here on Friday. “I have directed the movie after 12 long years and the movie is based on Devadasi system having a strong social message in it. I believe I have slowly but clearly communicated the necessary information to the society through this movie,” he said.
Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof T C Shivshankarmoorthy praised M S Sathyu for his never dying spirit and said that Sathyu must be an inspirational force for todays youth. Further, he added that Sathyu is well versed in directing movies which are untouched by obscenity and his movies reflect the problems at its best.
Meanwhile, he also hoped for a raise in the production quality of movies which bring awareness to the people and help to eradicate the blind beliefs. “We the audience must have a mindset to watch good movies which helps for the development of a healthy society,” he insisted.
Addressing the crew, entrepreneur from the city Maladi Ajith Kumar Rai said that the level of interest and creativity is equally present in every person, but only a few of them utilise it. As a matter of fact, the efforts of Sathyu are appreciable, he said.
