Katapadi: Grama Panchayath Member dies in Tragic Accident

Katapadi, 23 May 2011: In a tragic accident near Udyavara Bayalupade at National Highway NH 66 on Saturday night, Katapadi Grama Panchayath member Ravindra Shetty (33) a resident of Yenagudde Forest Gate area, died.

 

Ravindra Shetty who was a Public Works Contractor was coming in his swift car from Katapadi to Udupi, at that time a goods lorry coming from the front collided with the car and this accident took place. Both vehicles were in high speed, hence the drivers lost control and collided face to face.

 

To avoid the lorry the car first crashed into the dividers, but the lorry still crashed into the car. With the impact of the collision the car has completely damaged and driver Ravindra Shetty had serious injury on his head and chest and died on the spot. The front wheels of the lorry got separated and were thrown away due to this impact.

 

 

 

 

Immediately after the accident more than 500 public gathered at the spot and attempt was made to remove the body and to take to the hospital. Last year also Ravindra Shetty had an accident in the same spot while he was driving a Scorpio, but survived in that accident. But in this accident on Saturday he became the victim on the spot.

 

An entrepreneur Ravindra Shetty who involves in social and religious activities, was married just 6 months ago. On Saturday night he dropped his mother and wife to Katapadi Yenagudde Shri Durgaparameshwari Temple for the Nagamandalothsawa, and was driving in his swift car to Udupi, while this accident took place.
