Melbourne Konkan Community Organises Annual Dinner Dance 2014

Melbourne, 06 July 2014: Melbourne Konkan Community Inc. (MKC) organised its Annual Dinner Dance in Mossfiel Primary School Hall in Hoppers Crossing, Victoria. The Programme began with the welcome address by the President of MKC Mr Jossy Fernandes, who outlined the events organised by MKC during the year, like Christmas Carols, Family Fun Day, Konkani Retreat, and working bee and thanked all who participated in these events. He also invited people to future MKC events like the Feast of our Lady’s Nativity (Monthi Fest) and to the Priesthood Ordination of Deacon Prakash Menezes SVD.

The Master of Ceremonies, Mr Stephen D’souza, kept the gathering in high spirit through jokes and anecdotes. Children received a standing ovation for entertaining the gathering with their Bollywood Remix.  The band ‘Afterglow’, kept everyone present, swinging non-stop, on their feet for their rhythmical mix of Rock & Roll, Jive, Modern Pop, Bollywood and Konkani hits.
The gathering of about 200 Konkans enjoyed the night of magnificent dance, tasty snacks and delicious feast of Indian cuisine provided by Burrows caterers. The raffle was drawn and gifts were presented to the lucky winners of the day. The bumper prize of a Wine Bar was won by Mr & Mrs Claude D’Souza.

 

 
The secretary of MKC Steve Carvalho thanked everyone who worked hard to make this night a memorable one. Afterglow strummed their drums to kick start Baila, which made everyone jump to the dance floor and enjoy the melody of Konkan Coast and join their steps to the beats of traditional and modern Konkani Mix.
