Chicago: MKCA holds 17th annual get-together

Chicago, 26 Jun: Weather was playing hide and seek with colder wintry weather pattern in greater Chicagoland area even though summer was officially began on June 21. But Mangalorean Konkan Christians Association was blessed with warm sunny weather throughout the day and participants were in great spirit in enjoying the Mangalorean sports and games activities.
The MKCA President, John Dias, conveyed warm welcome to the enthusiastic Mangalorean crowd present. The day’s activities began with famous Indian pass time, the Cricket. Throughout the day youths as well as ‘older youths!’ enjoyed playing volleyball and shuttle badminton.
All the attendees enjoyed the food presented by MKCA and its members. After savoring the variety of food menu items, participants young children to the old were in competitive spirits in engaging themselves in variety of competitions and games arranged by the Picnic Committee Chairperson, Helen D’Souza and past President Queenie Mendonca. All the winners received gifts from the President, John Dias. All the participants participated in these activities with true sportsmanship! Both young and old tumbled and kissed the ground often but their spirits did not fade! There were variety of snacks, drinks fresh fruits arranged and offered by the MKCA Picnic Committee to renew the participants spirits. Throughout this events there was melodious music with Konkani songs presented by Francis Lobo.
At its conclusion Patcy Lasrado, conveyed her thanks to the Picnic Committee and all the members and guests who supported this MKCA’s annual pastime!
