Melbourne Konkan Community organises Family Fun Day 2014

Melbourn, 16 Mar 2014: MKC’s annual Family Fun day was held on 1st March 2014 at BrimbankPark, Keilor East, Victoria. Over 120 people (members and non-members) participated and made best use of the beautiful summer weather. This event presented another opportunity for the Melbourne Konkani’s to come together and spend time together – which they truly did and thoroughly enjoyed.

The fun day started at 11am with a welcome speech by the President - Jossy Fernandes. This was followed by delicious BBQ lunch prepared by the committee members.

The gathering was then divided in four teams comprising of the youngest members to the oldest - for the group games which were conducted by Valerian D’Souza, Valerian Menezes and Manoj D’Silva. Several games were played and points allotted to teams based on their rankings. The competitive spirit displayed by the teams was admirable.

 

Prizes and rolling shields were awarded to the winning team and also to the runner-ups for their participation.
A game of housie-housie was played thereafter, where several people won different prizes including 4 full houses – thanks to our sponsor Stany Martis for his generosity.

The day ended with a vote of thanks by Fr. Prakash Cutinha.
Special thanks to all the MKC Committee members for organizing this event and also to Stephen D’Souza for compering the event. Also a very big ‘Thank You’ to all the Melbourne Konkans who participated on the day and made MKC Family Fun Day 2014 a huge success.
