Shirva, 02 November 2011: November 1, 2011 is a red letter day in the history of the parish of St. Theresa of Child Jesus Church, Mukamar. The long awaited dream of renovated Cemetery was inaugurated by Mrs. Theresa Noronha, Udyavar (Wife of Late Mr. William Noronha ‘Mukamar Shilpi’) at 4.30 pm. The Cemetery was blessed by the Parish Priest, Fr. Victor D’Souza and Mass was offered by Fr. Louis D’Sa, Parish Priest of Mudarangady in the Cemetery itself for the intention of the donors and for the souls who are buried in this Cemetery. After the Mass the main donors were felicitated.
Paver bricks have been laid on the way towards the Cemetery. Main gate is very attractive with Kannada words “ Chira Shanthi Dhama” . The beautiful statue of Resurrected Jesus with extended hands invites those who enter the Cemetery and this statue is donated by Mrs. Theresa Noronha(Udyavar) and Mr.Rocky D’Silva(Mukamar) in the loving memory of Late Mr. William Noronha and Late Salvador and Eliza D’Silva.
Flower garden all over the Cemetery attracts all those who visit this sacred place. The walls of the Cemetery have been painted with multiple colours. The design of this Cemetery is the brainwork of Mr. Rocky D’Silva, who is also the main donor. Mukamar parish, is grateful to all the donors who have contributed generously for this noble work. We invite you all, to visit this beautiful Cemetery.

I appriciate the comments made by Mr. Ronald Sabi Mr. louis Alva. Good thinking. For doing charity work so many oppurtunities are there. Not from keeping cemetery untidy. We will spend money for our social functions like anything to show our strenght and how rich we are.In my opinion that money also used to spend for the education of poor student????

I totally agree with the comments of Mr. Ronald Sabi on the Cemetery. After all... this the last place where we can see to our loved once and say goodbye forever and pray for their souls. We all must try to keep the Cemetery always clean and tidy , so that anyone who wish to visit to their loved once resting place , walk in easily and peacefully pray for their departed souls, as some time we find the difficulties to walk inside the Cemetery because of not keeping the enough place to walk ( as a passage) and also because of the unwanted grass and plants . Congratulations to all Mukamar Parishioners as you have shown a perfect example to other parishes where we all need to take maximum care of own parish Cemetery s.

Mr. Vijay D\ souza, you are correct. This is nothing but wastage of money. In history we have learned that King Shahajahan built TajMahal as a gift to his beloved queen(wife)only after her death.Ultimately it is turned out as a graveyard. And we dig our grave long before our death. \ Smashana\ can not be a Dhama\". Donors of the graveyard, You may have spent more to the charities and for the education of poor children, but be wise before you spend.I suggest all the parishes must ban the permanent graves in their graveyards.Or Otherwise,in near future it is difficult to get a 6 ft. long area to dump a poor man\ s body in the Cemetry .

The churches charge huge sums when we purchase tombs, but never maintains it. At least once in a year they should clean it.

Congratulations!!I believe..it is great job by Mukamar parishioners. It is very important have clean, green and landscaped areas at churches, homes, public road sides and why not even at cemetery. I am sure such beautiful and maintained place can emit positive energy rather than a cemetery with bushes and haphazardly grown communist plantation which is a common sight at most RIP destinations. I am proud of Mukamar parishioners for such a wonderful thought and making it a reality. Every parish should learn to keep their cemetery neat and clean by getting rid of grass, thorny plants and shrubs…a place worthy to walk during any time of the year when we want to visit resting place of our beloved departed souls.

What a dead waste of money. Are the dead going to come back when you spend lakhs of rupees for welcome arch, compound wall, tiled pathways. Better if the money goes for charity. Atleast 100 students minimum 5 years of education cost could have been covered from this utter waste of money. We are good at show off only. May God Bless us. |
