Udupi: Birth Centenary of KK Hebbar to be observed on September 16, 17 and 18

Udupi, 18 August 2011: In a meeting held at M.G.M College, Udupi on August 16, 2011 at 4 pm, it was decided that the Birth Centenary of world renowned painter Kattingeri Krishna Hebbar (KK Hebbar) will be observed on September 16, 17 and 18, 2011. KK Hebbar was born at Kattingeri-Moodubelle on June 15, 1911.

According to Devdas Hebbar, President of Udupi Taluk Panchayat and Vice President of KK Hebbar Birth Centenary Celebrations Organizing Committee, during these three days programme, renowned painters from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districts will undertake painting and exhibit them at the MGM College. Besides there will be seminars and presentations on the life and achievements of KK Hebbar.
The Birth Centenary Celebration will be inaugurated in the Ravindra Mantapa at MGM College, Udupi on September 16, 2011 at 10.30 am which will be attended by eminent persons from politics and artists from Udupi and Dakshina Kannada Districts. Two books on KK Hebbar by KS Haridas Bhat and Vyasaraya Ballal will also be released during the inaugural function. There will be a seminar in the evening from 4 pm t 7 pm on topics such as KK Hebbar’s life and achievements, Colours of KK Hebbar and Hebbar in the view of artists.
The programme on September 17, 2011 will be held at Kattingeri and Moodubelle. A painting competition will be organized for the High school and higher primary school students in St. Lawrence Composite PU College, Moodubelle from 9 am. For each section, first, second, third and five consolation prizes will be awarded. There will be also seminar on the life and work of KK Hebbar. Rekah and Rajani, daughters of KK Hebbar will be attending the function on September 17, 2011.
The valedictory function of the Birth Centenary Celebration of KK Hebbar will be held on September 18, 2011 at 4 pm at Ravindra Mantapa, MGM College, Udupi.
