Udupi, 09 June 2011: The death of an youth in Suvarna river at Golikatte Holebagilu of Herga Grama on Wednesday afternoon has raised doubts that it could be a organized murder. On Wednesday afternoon at 12.00 noon the youth Roshan (20) gone missing and his body is found on Thursday afternoon at 3.00 pm, after 26 hours. He came to this place along with his friends Vikram Kulal, Krishnamurthy, Girish Pai, Mahesh and Sharath. But the reason for coming to this place is still mysterious.
Hearing the news of the death of her son, Roshan’s mother Elizabeth who is an NRI came from abroad on Thursday morning. Once the body of her son is found in the river, she was unable to control her weeping and also Roshan’s aunt and other relatives all were weeping.
As per Roshan’s Uncle Paul Salins, Roshan’s friends have caused the death. He is murdered for a love affair, all friends drugged him and drowned him in the water and killed him, he complains. For this the different statements being given by his friends is the witness, he says.
These friends say that none of them got into the water, only Roshan got into the water and died. All of them are locals, along with Roshan 6 of them while going in 3 bikes the mud from the bus splashed, so to wash the mud we went to the river, they are saying.
How to believe that they have gone 5 kilometers in the mud filled road that too in the jungle and deserted area to was the mud? then why only Roshan got into the water? why the others did not get into the water? Roshan is a good swimmer who used to swim for 2 hours, how will he die in the waist high water? expresses his doubts Salins. He says this is a murder.
But the case is already registered in in Manipal Police Station. The Police for the time being saying that it is an accidental death, while he gone for swimming along with friends he got drowned and died. Further investigation is yet to be done.
Wednesday at about 12.00 noon Roshan got drowned and gone missing. The fire brigade team arrived at 4.00 pm in the evening and along with the Police they searched until dark, but could not find the body and returned back. Fire brigade team did not come in the next morning on Thursday, but came in the afternoon at 1.00 pm but they could not find the body. Finally local youths got into the water and found the body. This irresponsible act by the Police and the fire brigade has angered the locals.
Roshan was working part time as auto rickshaw driver. His mother Elizabeth is employed abroad. Roshan is her only son. He studied up to 10th standard in Little Rock English Medium School in Brahmavara and did not study further. Her mother’s original house is in Kaup, but Roshan was living in Indrali with his Uncle Salins. But he was not regularly coming home says Salins.
