Sea of devotees throng Dharmasthala to usher in New Year

Beltangady, 01 Jan: Over fifty-thousand devotees arrived at Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, here on December 31, to usher into New Year seeking the grace of temple deity Lord Manjunateshwar.
Many of them arrived by foot, while a few arrived in bicycles to do their mite for their cherished deity. A few of them tonsured their heads and bathe into Netravati River to be cleansed of their body, mind and soul.
They also met Sri Kshetra Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade and sought his blessings. Later, they visited Manjusha museum, car museum and Manjunateshwar Cultural Research Foundation to enrich their knowledge.

Sai Saravana, Gopal Rao, Anand and Manjunat Rao, all residents of Chandra Layout in Bengaluru arrived here on Tuesday, December 31 and decorated the temple, home of Veerendra Heggade with varieties of flowers, tendu leaves, paddy sheaves, plantains, lotus, Jamaican leaves, sugarcane, pomegranate etc that was brought in 6 truck-loads.
These devotees are arriving with families to Dharmasthala every year since the last 12 years to do their mite for the temple deity. It has brought peace and happiness, prosperity in their businesses, said Gopal Rao, leader of their group.
