Udupi/M’Belle, 05 Jan 2025: In anticipation of the Annual Parish Feast to be celebrated on Wednesday, 08 January 2025, the traditional Confraternity Sunday was observed on Sunday, 05 January 2025 with Holy Mass, adoration, devotion and a grand Eucharistic Procession through the Main Road in Moodubelle Township. .Large number of parishioners participated in the Eucharistic Procession with great devotion accompanied by the Brass Band and singing of Konakani and Kannada hymns led by Fr. John Francis Sequeira (OCD).
The Holy Mass was concelebrated by Fr. John Francis Sequeira (OCD) as the chief celebrant along with Fr. George D’Souza-Parish Priest, Fr. Rikson Monteiro-Assistant Parish Priest, Fr. Baptist D’Souza and Fr. Lawrence Fernandes-both natives of Moodubelle and presently serving in Allahabad Diocese.
Soon after the Holy Mass, Fr. John Francis Sequeira (OCD) conducted brief Adoration of the Holy Eucharist followed by the grand Eucharistic Procession. The Eucharistic Procession proceeded through the road passing by the Community hall, cemetery, St. Lawrence PU College and taking the right turn joining the Main Road and entering the church through the main front gate.
Fr. John Francis Sequeira (OCD) carried the Holy Sacrament on a decorated vehicle as members of the Parish Pastoral Council walked in front carrying colourful canopies. The procession path was decorated with buntings. The shop-keepers on the Main Road had sprinkled water on the road in front of their shops to prevent dust being flown during the procession. Entering the Church after the procession, Fr. John Francis Sequiera placed the Holy Sacrament on the Altar and continued the Adoration during which he delivered his homily.
As the Confraternity Sunday coincided with the Feast of the Epiphany or the Feast of the Adoration of the Magi (Three Kings), Fr. John Francis Sequeira (OCD) in his homily connected the two themes and delivered a meaningful homily.
The homily was followed by Sacramental Blessing.
