Manipal: Pai attributes honour to teamwork

Manipal, 28 January 2011: "The Padma Bhushan conferred on me is for team Manipal. I got it on behalf of the entire team," said a modest Ramdas M Pai, chancellor of Manipal University at the annual function held at Fortune Inn Valley View on Republic Day, held to felicitate meritorious students and employees who have completed 25 years of service.
Pai attributed the honour to the teamwork over the years and urged everyone to do their best. "I want each one of you to give a 100% to see the university grow further and gain recognition as a top international university," he told a gathering of staff, students and parents.
Seventy students were felicitated for being recipients of free scholarship, three for research and two received the Kadambi scholarship award. The services of 69 employees who completed 25 years of service in the university were also recognized.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, pro-chancellor, H S Ballal gave details of all four categories of presentations. About the free scholarship, he said it was introduced to encourage academically bright students to take admission in the university. Free scholarship ship is given to students who excel at the entrance test.
Students Rachna Shenoy, KMC, Manipal and Siddarth Mayya, MIT lauded the efforts of Manipal University in introducing the free scholarship scheme to attract talents.
