Manipal rape case: Final judgement on October 15
Manipal, 09 Oct 2015: Almost two-years after the Manipal rape incident took place, the District and Session Court has posted the case for final judgement on October 15.
There was a delay in the case as the accused had moved the High Court asking to cross examine the 15 accused named in the charge-sheet.
The incident had taken place at around 11.30 pm on June 20, 2013. A fourth year MBBS student studying in Manipal University was reportedly gang raped by a group of three men.
The student, who was on her way back to her flat from the University library was dragged in to an auto-rickshaw by three men including the auto-rickshaw driver and was taken to a remote area near Ontibettu village, where they reportedly raped her.
The investigating team led by the then Manipal CPI Sadnanda Tippannannavar had arrested all the three accused in the crime.
