Udupi: Nurses had to play key role in healthcare; Rosaline J.

Manipal, 26 January 2014: “Nurses have key roles to play as team members inthe healthcare system today. As the nursing profession is becoming moreand more dynamic and its parameters changing, today, education is being provided to prepare nurses to face the challenges posed by thosechanges,” said Mrs. Rosaline Jayakaran, Dean, College of Nursing,Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore while addressing the students at the Annual day of Manipal College of Nursing (MCON) Manipal on Saturday at the Syndicate Bank Golden Jubilee Auditorium, Manipal.    

 

Mr Rosaline said, “As nurses we have been given a special privilege and a precious opportunity to serve mankind through our noble profession.Nursing professionals are in great demand in the country and the world over. The reputation of a hospital depends very much on the quality of nursing care”.

 

“When a patient leaves the hospital and goes home, they talk about the nursing care in the hospital. That is because nurses are the only ones who are there with the patients all the time. We as nurses have to contribute a lot towards this. The quality of care in a hospital is whatthe nurses provide,” she said.

 

 

Dr. Anice George, Dean Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal presented the annual report which highlighted the achievements, awards, projects and finest growth of the college in the field of research and education over the last one year. She also mentioned the upcoming plans of the college which includes Silver Jubilee celebration and International Conference on Evidence Informed Practice in January 2015. On the occasion, Dr P L N Rao, Registrar Evaluation, Manipal University unveile the Silver Jubileelogo of MCON, Manipal. The awardees were felicitated by Dr. G K Prabhu,Registrar of Manipal University, Manipal.

 

Meritorious students of BSc. Nursing, Post Basic BSc. Nursing, Post Basic Diploma Nursing, MSc. Nursing and MPhil Nursing were awarded. Ms.Mareena Mathew the best outgoing student of B.Sc Nursing bagged a number of awards and proficiency certificates. The contribution of faculty for teaching and research were recognized through good teacher award, most accomplished faculty of the year award and publication awards.

 

The formal program was followed by an hour-long cultural program including the song, classical and non-classical dances and fashion show.
