Youngster gone for swim with friends drown in Netravati River

Bantwal, 17 Oct 2014: A youngster who ventured into Netravati River, below the railway bridge near Kaikunje, B C Road, here for a swim along with his friends was drowned on Friday October 17.
The deceased has been identified as twenty-two-year-old Mitun, a resident of Netrakere, near here. Mitun was working as laboratory technician at Sahyadri College, Mangalore had gone for a swim along with his friends, when he was drowned. Despite his friends tried to rescue Mitun, he was drowned in deep water when he had underestimated its depth.
Bantwal ASP Rahul Kumar, circle inspector Belliyappa visited the spot.
The body of Mitun has been placed in the morgue at state-run hospital here for autopsy.
Bantwal town sub-inspector Nandakumar registered a case in this regard.
Police sources informed that all the friends including Mitun were former students of Sahyadri College and are employed in different organizations in Mangalore, while Mitun was employed in Sahyadri College.
