Student drowns in Devarakere near Kadekar; others survive

Udupi, 25 Aug 2014: One student among a group of 4 was drowned in Devarakere, located near Kadekar gram panchayat, here on Monday August 25.
A group of students arrived at Devarakere, here to have a swim since they had free time at their College here on Monday, when they were swimming one of the student was reported to have drowned.
The eyewitness said that the students group belonged to Tenkanidiyoor Government First Grade College. All the students knew swimming except the drowned. Devarakere was inaugurated by the former minister the late Dr V S Acharya on September 4 2011. A local swimming expert was training the youngsters in his spare time.
The deceased has been identified as Sunil, lone son of auto rickshaw driver Somanna (Soma), who is operating from Karavali bypass auto park, Adi Udupi, here.
Although, Sunil was swimming with the help of a inflated tube, he slipped it and drowned. The local swimmer at once brought him to the bank, by then he had breathed his last.
He was later taken to Hi-tech Hospital, nearby but the doctors pronounced brought dead.
Malpe police registered a case in this regard.
