‘CM releases Rs 10 cr to Udupi CMC’

Udupi, 31 January 2011: Chief Minster B S Yeddyurappa has released a sum of Rs 10 crore to Udupi CMC, said Higher Education Minister Dr V S Acharya.
The Chief Minister had announced Rs 25 crore during the state-level conference of civic bodies held in the month of August last year.
Speaking at the ‘Amritha Sangama,’ organised by the Udupi CMC to mark the valedictory of year-long platinum jubilee celebrations of Udupi CMC at ALN Rao Stadium, MGM College here on Monday, he said an action plan for Rs 25 crore for various development works has been sent to the government by the CMC for approval.
Zero tolerance towards corruption, encroachment and littering will help the civic bodies to achieve all round development, he said.
The state government is planning to bring amendments to Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act 1964 and 1976, he added.
Acharya said that a sum of Rs 7.5 crore is earmarked to undertake the work on underground drainage in Udupi. CMC members and former members were felicitated on the occasion.
