Hassan: Dudda Srinivas chosen as chairman of first-ever Dalit Sahitya Parishat Sammelan

Hassan, Nov 28, 2013 : Dalit poet Srinivas with the penname ‘Dudda Sri’ was chosen as chairman of the first ever Dalit Sahitya Sammelan in Hassan district.
It was announced during Dalit Sangarsha Parishat (DSP) district executive Committee meeting held at state-run guesthouse presided by district president Hettoor Nagaraj, here on Wednesday November 26.
Srivas was shortlisted among 4 distinguished personalities for his extraordinary contributions to literature and struggle to uplift Dalits.
The Dalit Sahitya Sammelan will be held at Ambedkar Bhavan, here on December 15.
RPI Satish, C Suvarna, Venkatesh Byakaravalli, K B Gurumurti, Huluvare Prakash, Mohan and others were present at the meeting.
Seventy-four-year-old Srinivas is a native of Dudda village, retired class II government clerk who with great difficulty passed Class X and got a government job. Despite his poor background, he had not alleviated to high standards of living, consciously thinking about his suffering fellowmen. He had authored several books and poetry putting his sufferings and abuses.
