Maravante Villagers urge for Regular Panchayat Secretary

Kundapur, Jul 4 : The village council meeting of Maravante, near here was held on Wednesday July 3.
Maravante gram panchayat former president S Janardhan in his introductory address said that the village council bagged National Panchayat Empowerment Award for the year 2012-13, because of transparency in administration and farsighted development works. The union government sponsored Swajaladhara drinking water project will be undertaken at a cost of Rs 10 lac, said Janardhan.
The local – T K Karvi urged the village council to stop the practice of cremating the mortal remains of deceased on the sea shore and set up a crematorium in Maravante.
Nagesh sought the village council to recall Niranjan, the secretary of Maravante panchayat who has been juggling his duties as secretary of Nada village since over 1 year. Niranjan has been drawing his salary from Maravante account. He demanded a fulltime panchayat secretary for Maravante.
Nagesh Patel expressed his anguish over a few veterinary doctors of state-run clinics are charging exorbitant fees to treat the livestock.
The fishmongers expressed their grievances of adequate facilities at the fish market, in spite the village council charges them fees. The drains are chocked emitting stench.
The primary health centre resident medical officer Dr Girish Gowda advised the people not to let stagnant water in the households especially during the monsoon, since it provides ideal breeding places for mosquitoes leading to communicable diseases.
Narasimha Shetty, Rohini D, Mansoor Ibrahim and gram panchayat members were present at the dais.
Dasi Venkata Karvi, social activist, turtle and reptile rescuer, retrieving dead bodies in drowning cases was felicitated during the programme.
The panchayat development officer harish Shetty compered the programme.
