Udupi: Women need to know law – Savitri Bhat

Udupi, 31 July 2012: Many exploitations and crimes taking place against girls and women are kept hidden due to lack of knowledge to fight against it in accordance with the law. That is why in the recent days the rapes and exploitation on women and girls are increasing, said Chief Senior Lawyer Savitri V. Bhat. She was speaking upon inaugurating the workshop on ‘Security of Women and Knowledge of Law’ on Saturday in Udupi.
The program was presided over by Kaup Vidyaniketana Group of Education Correspondent K.P. Acharya. The workshop program was jointly organized by Udupi District Law Service Authority, Women and Children Welfare Department, Children Overall Development Project, Kaup Vidyaniketana Group of Education and Udupi Lawyers Association.
Chief guests present in the program are; Vidyaniketana Administration Officer Prof. V.K. Udyavar, Women and Children Development Department Deputy Director Rita Madtha, District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. Ramachandra Bayari, Lawyer Shrisha Acharya and Children Development Project Officer Sadananda Nayak. Prof. V.K. Udyavar welcomed. Project Officer Preeti compeered the program. Lecturer Sunanda proposed vote of thanks.
