Shirva: APL card issued to broken hut!

Shirva, 10 May 2012: A poor family living in a pathetic condition in a broken hut using kerosene lamp for the light, has been issued with the APL yellow card instead of ration card thus deprived them from the government facilities of subsidized rice and kerosene. Shankara Acharya and Ratna Acharya family of Shirva Kodu Padubettu of Shirva Panchayath area who are below poverty level, having not enough rice to eat and kerosene to lit lamp, but still been issued yellow card.
Having only 18 cents land and a hut with grass roof which leaks all over if rains, but due to mistakes of the officers they have been issued with the yellow card. Since they are too old they cannot even do the daily labourers work now and having no grown up children their condition is pathetic.
But the officers are in no mood to change their card in spite of requests. The hut which is in a collapsing position, has been covered with the plastic sheet since he is not able to repair it. He asked to the Panchayath for help to repair the roof of hut by replacing the roof grass, but there is no one to hear his plight.
