Udupi: Dalit and Minority Associations Celebrate Dr.Ambedkar Jayanthi

Udupi, 15 April 2012: Various Dalit and Minority Associations conducted a joint procession with the slogan ‘save constitution’ and thus celebrated 121st birthday of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in Udupi. Congress leader Pramodh Madhwaraj initiated the procession at Jodukatte. The procession went through Court Road, Kavi Muddana Marg and ended near service bus stand. On this occasion Tulu traditional calendar created by Dalit leader Deekayya was released by Dalit Women leader Sundari Puttur.
Speaking on the occasion G. Rajashekar said that, the incidents such as the demolition of the Babri Masjid, the violence in Gujrat, upset the hope of living in harmony as per the constitution. All the governments ruling in the state are defaming the constitution, he said. Cyril Pinto of Christian Association, Akbar Ali of Jamate Islami, Jayan Malpe also spoke on the occasion.
Leaders of other associations Pattabhirama Somayaji, Dinakara Bengre, K. Faniraj, Hayavadana Upadhyaya, Sharada Moodusagri, Ramesh Kanchan, Louis Lobo, Dr. Vanajakshi, Mallika Ashok, Khatib Rashid, Yasin Malpe, Prashanth Jaththanna, Mohamed Murkada and others were present.
