Mangalore: Book on Tulu script released

Mangalore, 17 July 2011: Students and others, who want to learn Tulu script, need not run from pillar to post to get a copy of the book. ’Tulu Lipi Akshara Mala,’ a book on Tulu script edited by litterateur Venkataraja Puninchithaya, was released to the market here on Saturday.
The book will be of great help for Kannadigas to learn Tulu script as it uses Kannada as the medium. The book published by Tulunada Samskriti Vedike Trust, contains all letters of ancient Tulu script with illustrations to represent corresponding words used. In addition to vowels and consonants, the book also contains a chart of Tulu numerals. The 24 page Tulu script book priced at Rs 50 will be marketed by the Trust.
Releasing the book, Tulu artiste Vijayakumar Kodialbail said: "Tuluvas should learn all languages, but at the same time should not neglect Tulu at any cost. The overwhelming response which my movie Oriyerdori Asal received reveals a fact that people of Tulunadu still love Tulu," he added.
