30 September 2010: 1.30 PM: The Central Government and the state governments have made all security arrangements in light of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court finally delivering its judgement determining whether the Hindus or Muslims have the right of ownership of the disputed site at Ayodhya claimed by both the communities since many years. Hundreds of thousands of police and paramilitary forces have been deployed across the country to prevent violence following a long-awaited legal decision on the disputed holy site at around 3.30 pm today. The reaction from different communities to today’s judgement will severely put to test the secular credentials and the rule of law and constitutional sanctity of the nation. As the Commonwealth Games at Delhi are just three days away, the reaction to the verdict on Ayodhya will reflect in which way the nation will proceed. It is hoped that better senses will prevail and all concerned people will put the nation before the narrow and parochial sectarian differences and magnanimously accept the judicial verdict and put back the bitter memories of the past and look forward to a better future for the young generation which believes in marching ahead towards the goal of progress, peace and harmony. Practically all the parties to the dispute have equivocally promised to adhere to the court verdict so also all the political parties have vowed to maintain peace and harmony. Let us hope that all these groups who have a stake in the judgement will abide by their promises and assurances to maintain peace and rein in the fringe elements in their organisations so that by spreading rumours they will not vitiate the atmosphere of trust and commitment. This is a historic opportunity that comes rarely and everyone can play a positive role by upholding the rule of law and prove to the world that we are one nation and no force on earth either internal or external will divide us. Let us hope and pray that whatever is the Court verdict of today on Ayodhya, let us emerge as a stronger nation looking forward to the successful Commonwealth Games and a better future to our young generation.
