Mangalore: Minister Ramanath Rai Reviews Progress of Civic Administration

Mangalore, 31 Dec 2013: The state forests and Dakshina Kannada (DK) district-in-charge minister Ramanath Rai chaired the progress review meeting of municipal body here on Tuesday December 31.
The issues concerning the existing situation of newly-built vented dam at Thumbe whether it would sustain drinking water in peak summer of 2014, to hand over the 2mgd water supply project that comes under the purview of zilla panchayat; the ongoing works under ADB; the measures taken on cleanliness and hygiene, issuance of trade license, 3 package system; approval of single housing site under urban planning; progress of inner roads repairs at city limits; filling up of pot-holes and clearing refused building materials dumped in roadsides; the progress in developing public parks; maintenance of streetlights; the financial position of civic body; collection of taxes, state funds, clearing bills of contractors; illegal connections from main water pipes that supplies drinking water to city from Thumbe; the filling up of vacancies in civic body; to plant trees around the garbage landfill at Pacchanady were discussed on the occasion.
Mangalore south MLA J R Lobo, DK district Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim, municipal commissioner Ajit Kumar Hegde, revenue officers, executive engineers, different department officials were present.
