No Mega Projects that threaten Environment will Be Allowed: Minister Ramanath Rai

Mangalore, 2 Aug 2013: Although, the announcements were made to set up ultra mega thermal power plant in Niddodi, near here; it needs three-levels of approval from both union and forest and environment departments, in order to begin the project. I would not allow any project that would threaten the fragile eco-environment, said state forest, environment and Dakshina Kannada (DK) district-in-charge minister B Ramanat Rai.
‘I have no information about District Congress Committee (DCC) group’s recent visit to Niddody, as I was not informed despite I am the president of DCC, therefore, DCC has not officially organized this visit, clarified minister Rai.
A proposal has been forwarded to union government related to setting up of thermal power plant in Niddodi during 2006. Meanwhile, so far no further follow ups were sought from state environment department by the Center. I would not personally recommend any projects that will be imposed upon the people, added minister Rai who assured to discuss the issue with CM Siddaramaiah.
