Udupi: Last Day Novena at Our Lady of Sorrows Church

Udupi, 07 September 2010: The Novena in honour of the nativity of our Lady ( Monthi Festh), for the Ninth Day was observed in great devotion and fervour at Mother of Sorrows church Udupi. The morning mass at 6-30 a.m. was celebrated by Rv. Fr. Mathew Vas, Parish Priest and Rev. Fr. Melwyn Noronha, Assistant Priest. Church was full with children and devotees.

 

After the Mass, the children gathered in the Portico of the Church surrounding the baby child (Monthi Mayi) and signing the hymns of the occasion- ‘Sakkad Sangatha melyam, sakkad lagim saryam..’ There were about 60-70 children who brought flowers of number of varieties. It is indeed a very jubilating scene though slight rain affected the scene. Yet the spirit among the children did not dampen.

 

 

Sweets were distributed to the children as well as to all those who were present, and it was a very pleasant occasion.
