Udupi: Minister Abayachandra lays emphasis on Modernizing Rural Fish Markets in Kaup

Udupi, 24 Nov 2013: All the rural fish markets will be modernized in the limits of Kaup legislative assembly constituency by pooling the state funds, said the state fisheries and ports minister Abayachandra Jain.
The minister Jain was speaking after visiting the modernized fish market of Katpady, near here jointly by National Fisheries Development Board, Hyderabad and Karnataka Coastal Development Authority here on Friday November 22.
‘The fish markets in Shirva, Manchakal, Shankarapura, Bantakal, Mudarangady, Ucchila, Kallianpura, Hiriyadka, Atrady will be developed on the model of Katpady fish market on stages,’ said minister Jain.
The state urban development and Udupi district-in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said that proposals will be forwarded to the state government to modernize rural fish markets. He also urged Jain to grant various facilities of fisheries department in this regard.
Udupi taluk fishmongers Association president Baby H Salian brought the slow-phase of ongoing works at city fish market, while the minister Jain called fisheries director V K Shetty to expedite the works at the earliest. He also said that he would seek state order to hand over the charge of developing fish markets to fisheries market instead of Coastal Development Authority.
Katpady gram panchayat president Vinay Ballal, ZP former president Sarasu D Bangera, Kote gram panchayat president Prashant Jattanna, PDO Inayat, Udupi fishmongers’ Association vice president Appi M bangera, chief secretary Laxmi Anand, Jayanti Kotian, Katpady fish market leader Tashoda Sriyan, Parvati Sriyan were present on the occasion.
