Mangalore: Chennai Couple Attempts Suicide - Man Critical

Mangalore, 12 Jul 2013: A couple attempted to commit suicide near the train-track at Pandeshwar here on Friday July 12.
The male, about 24 years, and female, about 21 years, hailing from Chennai, tried to slit their own throats at the secluded train-track here. Both had travelled from Chennai to the city.
The railway sources informed that the couple had reached city on Thursday July 11 night from Chennai. The railway guard of Maveli Express that chugged-off from the city at about 5.30am on Friday July 12 saw a couple attempting to commit suicide by slitting their throats, who alerted the station master. The station master and railway personnel began searching for the couple who could not be traced as they were lying in overgrown vegetation.
The locals informed the police about a couple in distres lying near the train-track nearby Kerala Samajam School, here at about 2.00pm on Friday July 12.
Pandeshwar police arrived at the spot. When the police tried to question the couple, both were both not unable to talk due to the severe injuries that they inflicted on their throats.
The exact cause for the couple to take drastic step is not yet known. Both have been shifted to the Government Wen Lock Hospital for treatment.
The condition of the male is said to be critical.
