Mangalore: Installation Ceremony of Lions Club Held in City

Mangalore, 7 Jul 2013: The installation ceremony of Lions Club – Mangalore that has been set up fifty-three years ago was held at Lions Seva Mandir, Mallikatte, here on Saturday July 6 at 7.30pm.
Alwyn Patric Patrao presided the function on Saturday evening.
Alwyn Patrao in his presidential address appealed to the members to keep the spirit of Lionism that was themed for 2013 -14 as dream and accomplish with passion the deeds of humanity. He narrated how one can be immortal by selfless service for humanity, citing an example of brave-heart Indian soldier Jaswant Singh Rawat who fought the enemy during Indo – China war in 1962 with the help of 2 small girls. It’s believed that the martyr Jaswant Singh lives on by guarding the national borders, who is much revered by Indian armed forces. Likewise, good deeds to lift the poor and downtrodden in the society, bring ray of hope on the lives of underprivileged will have eternal rewards that should motivate the members in serving the people, said Alwyn.
Professor Ronald Mascarenhas of St Agnes College, here was installed as president for the year 2013 -14.
The cheques were distributed to the needy who seek medical care, artificial limb, studies of poor students during the programme.
