Belman: Associations has to take the lead in building a democratic nation

Belman, 26 January 2012: India is an democratic country, but it is a tragedy that all the irregularities are taking place in the name of the religion. The religion, caste are the stains for humanity. We all are equal. The International organizations and associations need to work honestly towards building a democratic country, said Prof. Ramadasa Arya - Retired Principal of Adamaru P.U. College.
 
He was speaking in the Lions District 324 D4 Zone 3 zonal meeting on Sunday at Belman St. Joseph School grounds. Speaking further he said that the thoughts should be made on the need of saving the country from those religious, political and intellectual leaders who follow duel policies.

 

 


 
Chief Guest of the program popular film music director and background singer Gurucharan spoke on the occasion and said that, in order to create awareness among the young generation Leo Clubs should be formed. St. Joseph Church Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Lawrence B. D’Souza in his asheervachana appreciated the social work being carried out by Belman Lions Club.
 
Lions Deputy Governor Dr. K. Madhusoodan Hegde, H.N. Shivakumar, Lions District Governor Jayakara Shetty Indrali conveyed best wishes. The program was inaugurated by Lions Zonal First Lady Asha S. Hegde by lighting the lamp. In the program former Governors; Dr. Ravindranath Hegde Katpadi, Jayakara Shetty Kundapura, Udupi Municipality Paurayukta M. Gokuldas Nayak, Belman Lions Club President Ramakrishna Shetty and Lioness President Gretta D’Souza were present.
 
The program was presided over by Zonal President Suhas Hegde. Welcoming committee President N.M. Hegde welcomed the guests and the gathering. Udayakumar Shetty Inna and Dr. N.T. Anchan conducted introduction. “Namma Suhasaru” book by B. Seetharama Bhat was released by Sarala Hegde mother of Suhas Hegde.
 
On this occasion Goa Hotel Entrepreneur Suresh V. Shetty Belman and Suresh (Soori) Shetty were felicitated. Mukunda Kamath conducted introduction. Dr. Prakashathma proposed vote of thanks. Later with the cultural programs the event was concluded. More than 1,000 representatives from Udupi, Mangalore, Davanagere, Hassan and Shivamoga district had arrived to take part in the event.
