Bangalore: KSRTC Gives Shock to Bus Passengers; Hikes Bus Fares by 10.5 %

Bangalore, 15 Jun 2013: Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has given super shock to passengers by hiking bus charges by 10.5 percent, in the wake of continuous price hike of diesel. The new rates will be effective from Saturday June 15 midnight. So, beware before boarding a bus.

KSRTC bus fare hike will further burden the common folks who are already distressed over skyrocketing of prices of essential commodities.  BMTC is also likely hiking its fares, but percentage is not yet known.  One would not be surprised if the season tickets of students also would be hiked. 

 

Its owing to union government permitted the state-owned oil majors to hike the prices of diesel from January; the price of diesel has been continuously hiked.  The petrol price will be hiked to Rs 2 per liter and diesel by 0.50 paisa with effect from Saturday June 15.

KSRTC had forwarded a proposal to hike the bus fares at the backdrop of hike in price of diesel.  The transport minister Ramalinga Reddy has at last given in to the pressures of KSRTC and consented for revision of bus fares.  The passengers travelling in KSRTC buses from Sunday June 16 will have to shell out more money for their journey.
